About the role

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for delivering a high quality and effective financial reporting and compliance function in our Finance team. 

The role will be focused on monthly financial accounting, reconciliations, and compliance to statutory requirements across Export Finance Australia and the Australian Infrastructure Funding Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP). The Senior Financial Accountant will assist in compliance with controls within the financial accounting and help to ensure that audit process, financial statements and monthly closing process all operate effectively. 

Key responsibilities

  • Detail accounting entries for complex loans and derivatives to ensure accurate monthly GL close process, balance sheet reconciliations and group reporting, meeting all deadlines. 
  • Construct modelling for fair valuation purposes and other accunting requirements. 
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and implement and monitor the financial controls that support this. 
  • Set up reporting and automate reporting requirements for stakeholders. 
  • Prepare procedures and policies for new products. 
  • Provide analysis on loans and derivatives. 
  • Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of the financial statements. 
  • Assist the Financial Controller in the identification of continuous improvements initiatives, and opportunities to consolidate, automate and gain process efficiencies within the Finance function. 
  • Encourage and demonstrate a strong customer service and delivery culture as part of the Finance team. 

About you

  • Degree and CA/CPA qualified. 
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a Financial Accounting capacity within a bank or large corporate. 
  • Experience in accounting for loans, derivatives, fair value and equity accounting. 
  • Strong technical accounting and reporting skills. 
  • Prior experience with modelling. 
  • Significant experience and ability to successfully and accurately develop and write policies and procedures. 
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement with the ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the organisation. 
  • Strong analytical and judgement skills, with the ability to provide financial information analysis and advice. 
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office Excel and thorough understanding of Word and PowerPoint. 
  • A strong technical proficiency to be conversant with new software and systems. 
  • Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. 
  • Demonstrated experience in problem solving and analysis. 
  • A commitment to help build and establish a culture of continuous improvement.
