About the role
We have a full-time permanent opportunity for a Business Development Manager to work alongside and support the Director, VIC & TAS in implementing the sales strategy and outcomes to grow Export Finance Australia’s Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) business.
This is a key revenue generating, business development 'hunter' role that will play a critical part in influencing deal flow and ultimately signed transactions for the target market (SME exporters).
Key roles and responsibilities
On a day-to-day basis, you will be involved in the following:
Assist the Director in implementing a targeted strategy/business plan to build Export Finance Australia’s SME business
Proactively network (alongside the Director) with local and federal government agencies, various business industry groups, banks, professional services firms and other alliance partners across both metropolitan and regional geographies throughout Victoria & Tasmania to actively seek out opportunities to further develop and grow our business
Identify, originate, negotiate, structure and execute transactions to support eligible SME exporters using a range of Export Finance Australia’s products and services
Work with the Director to identify and develop referral and business opportunities to support eligible Australian exporters and investors
Act as brand representative of Export Finance Australia’s SME business by undertaking public speaking engagements and represent the firm at events to build the corporate profile and deliver increased business opportunities
Work collaboratively and independently in the structuring and negotiation of debt transactions
Work in partnership with the Execution and Portfolio Management teams, Credit, Legal and others to ensure effective execution of viable opportunities
We are looking for an experienced business development manager with sound commercial and relationship building sales experience within the financial services industry. You will be an skilled 'hunter', able to consistently drive a strategy to achieve sales outcomes.
You will also bring a combination of the following skills, qualities and experience to our team:
Degree in Finance/Economics/Accounting
Understanding of business banking, trade finance or commercial banking
Ability to structure transactions including understanding of credit analysis and documentation issues
A very strong client focus and results orientation with professional and timely follow through (including pipeline management)
Exceptional communication skills – written and verbal
Ability to develop and maintain professional and constructive working relationships with internal stakeholders within Victoria, Tasmania and other states and between SME clients, bankers, accountants, lawyers and alliance partners
Ability to think strategically and promote and influence to achieve sales outcomes for the business
Personal qualities and behavioural traits
- A resilient self-starter with a customer centric approach
- Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills in building engagement and confidence with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and various stakeholder groups
