Our aim at Export Finance Australia is to minimise the environmental footprint of our operations by adopting practices that promote energy efficiency, encourage recycling and reduce waste.
We use energy to run our computer facilities, air conditioning and lighting, and for other purposes. The table below compares our energy use over three years.
|Electricity used in Export Finance Australia occupancy (energy used in the four floors we occupy)||930||684||722|
|Electricity used in the building services (energy used in building common areas such as lifts and lobby)||536||538||346|
|Gas used in building services (energy used in building common areas such as lifts and lobby)||0||0||77|
Energy use by Export Finance Australia and in Export House has declined significantly since the renovations were completed. This is a pleasing result and demonstrates the effectiveness of the works undertaken. Export Finance Australia has also varied its electricity supply contract and since 1 September 2014 is sourcing 20% of its supply from green energy sources.
During the refurbishment we incorporated water saving features such as low-flow basins, showers and toilets and 5A-rated dishwashers. Because of metering problems we do not have historic water consumption figures so our data collection commenced in July 2014.
Our goal is to continue to improve our water efficiency.
Recycling and waste
We have implemented an internal recycling program, where we encourage employees to recycle paper, cardboard, plastic, glass and aluminium, along with secure recycling bins for business papers.
Data on waste generation has been collected since January 2014. Our target is to reduce waste sent to landfill.
